I believe the quality of the equipment you use is a statement of your professionalis'm. I use a combination of Dynacord and Electro Voice  which I feel represents a quality sound re-production!

My sound system has now had a complete overhaul. I have upgraded the  system to include EV SB122 Subs which I feel gives me the 'complete' sound. For larger venues I have Peavey PR12's which can couple into the PA system in the form of either extra front of house speakers or stage monitors.

My new mixing desk is the Dynacord PowerMate1000 Mk II which is powered by it's onboard 1400w stereo amplifier.

   I only use the highest quality backing tracks.All the tracks have been purchased as, or converted to MP3 format and are played back through a laptop computer using a 'show hoster' programme called 'COMBIWAVE'. I now include an American Audio SD card player where all the tracks are stored on SDHC cards in the form of mp3's.

 

This has alleviated any need to take mini discs and players as a back up to the computerised system. This ensures no moving parts and a clean sharp sound. I find this to be the perfect combination for a solo vocalist who needs to have his tracks at his immediate disposal without the hassle of finding and loading disks and then locating the appropriate track!

I have a selection of microphones which all have their own characteristics and applications, but without doubt the best mic I have is the Shure SLX/Beta 87a radio system.

  

This is a very expensive microphone but the results fully justify the costs. Special thanks go to Gary and his Staff at PMT Music store in Birmingham for their friendliness and expertise in helping me decide which Microphone to purchase.
